LED grow light industry in China has been developing for almost 10 years. Currently there are a large number of grow lights manufacturers and the competition is fierce. According to the statistics from GLII, there are about 40 manufacturers of LED grow lights, excluding trading enterprises. The overall value of LED grow lights in China was supposed to be CNY 300 million.  Considered as a special application, the grow light has a few remarkable features. There is an increasing demand for the products in the country.

There are plants grow lights and aquarium lights. The grow lights can help improve the growth of plants when the natural light is not sufficient. LED light is used to enhance the agricultural product growth. Aquarium lighting can be used to promote aquatic plant growth and to illuminate the place. LED lighting plant has the following advantages. They are more energy efficient and able to produce the more brightness using less amount of electricity power. It is monochromatic light which can significantly help improve the growth of plants. Regular lights are not able to offer the same effect. LED grow light has various type of wavelength, so it is also able to control the height and nutrients of the plants. In addition it give off little heat while operating. As a result extra heat won't be produced.

Distribution of manufacturers is highly concentrated

According to GLII, there are about 40 manufacturers of LED grow lights, excluding trading enterprises. Most of the manufacturers are based in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. There are lots of  grow lights manufacturers in Guangdong province. The number of manufacturers there accounts for 84 percent of all. There are some reason why manufacturers is highly concentrated in Guangdong.

There are sufficient suppliers of main materials in this area. The main materials of LED grow light include the LED light source, lamp case and power supplier. There are lots of LED package and the power companies in Guangdong. GLII data shows that 69% of the country's packaging companies and 86% of the power company. According to GLII statistics, the country's 60% of the LED general lighting enterprises are located in Guangdong. As the development of LED industry, more and more companies will expand to this field. Currently the grow lights are mainly used in foreign countries. The domestic demand is expected to grow rapidly in the near future. The domestic market is still in its infancy. But the demand is supposed to gradually increase in east and central China.
